Pinwheels for Prevention
Child Abuse Prevention Month 2011
We kicked off Child Abuse Prevention Month statewide with a proclamation from Governor Otter on March 30th. The proclamation, like a similar resolution passed by the Legislature, turns our attention to the dangers of shaking a baby, that is completely preventable and that there is good work going on to prevent Shaken Baby Syndrome. Watch a video of the signing: and read the proclamation.

And here's a little on kekeluv, the DJ from 103.3 in Boise who is fasting while broadcasting from a billboard in downtown Boise. My family went down to see him yesterday since we were listening to him on the radio and trying to figure out how you live on a billboard for a week. Fasting is difficult but he is keeping up a good front as he broadcasts on the radio. This video at least gives you a little sense--although day 1 was easier than later days. There's definitely a lot of talk going on about this. We planted a pinwheel garden around the base of the billboard on Tuesday afternoon.
